Volunteer Delivery Driver, PPE & Essential Goods Gas Card Provided, Monthly   Founded in 1925, VHA is a not-for-profit, charitable organization made up of over 3,000 diverse professionals – nurses, personal support workers, rehab therapists, home support workers, extreme cleaners, and office support staff. Together, we provide high quality care, with great heart, to vulnerable populations in the communities we serve. This includes seniors, families, new parents, newborn babies, people with physical and mental disabilities, children with medically complex needs, and the terminally ill. We provide service 24 hours a day, seven days a week to clients in their homes, in schools, in retirement homes and other locations in the community. We’re looking for volunteers who share and enhance VHA’s values     VHA Home HealthCare requires volunteer delivery drivers to deliver Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Personal Support Workers, Nurses or other frontline homecare staff at various locations in Toronto. Volunteers also deliver essential goods to clients as needed. Volunteers can participate in one or both services in Toronto and/or in Peel Region. Volunteer Delivery Drivers pick-up PPE from VHA and deliver it to designated staff between 9:00 a.m.– 4:00p.m. Monday to Friday.

We are currently for Thursday and/r Friday availability. The locations and times of each assignment depend upon the availability of each volunteer and the established delivery schedule. Essential goods delivery days and times depend upon client need and volunteer availability. Volunteers indicate when they are available. Purpose: This role ensures that healthcare staff receive resources that are required to support safety while providing essential healthcare services. Essential Goods Delivery: ensures that vulnerable clients – individuals and families, who have little to no supports, receive food and supplies to remain safe and healthy at home.

Area Served- PPE Delivery: Throughout Toronto: Scarborough, North York, East York, York, and Toronto. Essential Goods can be delivered in Etobicoke and Peel Region Schedule: Schedule to be determined and agreed by the volunteer in collaboration with the service coordinator, depending upon needed deliveries, delivery locations, schedule, & Volunteer availability Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older

Responsibilities

* Volunteer uses their own vehicle to pick up PPE from VHA Home HealthCare and deliver it to staff

* Volunteer uses their own vehicle to shop and deliver essential goods to clients in need

* Volunteers will be provided with a destination address, contact and phone number, and will deliver PPE packages to VHA staff or goods to clients, ensuring that it is received

* Deliveries are ‘no contact’ and physical distancing is required

* VHA Staff load PPE into the vehicle at pick-up or volunteers shop and deliver essential goods from designated store (gift card provided for purchases, receipts required)

* At the PPE delivery location, a staff supervisor may collect PPE from the volunteer’s car

* Alternatively, in some cases, volunteers deliver PPE to a location and stay on-site to distribute it to staff Skill Requirements / Qualifications

* Committed, Trustworthy, Reliable, Punctual, Friendly, Flexible, Independent, Safe Driver,

* Committed to safety, physical distancing & public health and infection prevention and control

* Valid Driving License; good driving record Proof of valid driving license and insurance Time Commitment

* 4 hours per week (more if desired) between 9am-4pm Thursdays and/ Fridays with specific days and times to be determined with each individual volunteer

* Volunteers may take as few or as many shifts per week as preferred Boundaries

* Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all information that you may have access to through your role, including but not limited to names, locations/ addresses, and telephone numbers

* Maintain physical distancing – minimum 2 meters between self and others and adhere to all public health and infection prevention and control requirements
